Tsin Kletzin (or Tsin Kletsin) is a Chacoan Anasazi (Ancient Puebloan) archaeological site atop South Mesa in Chaco Culture National Historical Park, in northwestern New Mexico, between Albuquerque and Farmington, USA. Its timber tree rings date construction to around 1110-1115 AD. Originally it contained 81 rooms, 3 kivas and a plaza built to create a 2-story structure. The masonry style of this complex is called McElmo (Chaco-McElmo), characterized by large sandstone blocks and some tubular slabs. Hike to Tsin Kletzin on South Mesa Trail (2.6 miles round trip) starting at Casa Rinconada. Tsin Kletzin is a misspelled version of Navajo name meaning "black wood place" or "charcoal place." Global warming and climate change: Mount Rainier’s glaciers shrank 22% by area and 25% by volume between 1913 and 1994 in conjunction with rising temperatures (Nylen 2004). As of 2009, monitored glaciers are continuing to retreat (NPS). Over the last century, most glaciers have been shrinking across western North America (Moore et al. 2009) and the globe (Lemke et al. 2007) in association with increasing temperatures.

  • Matanuska Glacier (in 2019), source of the Matanuska River in Alaska, is the largest glacier accessible by car in the United States: 27 miles (43 km) long by 4 miles (6.4 km) wide. It flows near the Glenn Highway in the Chugach Mountains about 100 miles (160 km) northeast of Anchorage. Matanuska Glacier flows about 1 foot (30 cm) per day. The Matanuska Glacier has lost 84 million tons of ice 2002-2019 (www.ksl.com/article/27440688). Human-caused climate change has quickly accelerated the unprecedented warming of Alaska in the past few decades.
