  • The Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen or Prekestolen) rises 604 meters (1982 feet) above Lysefjorden, Norway. The nearest city is Jørpeland, in Strand municipality, Rogaland county, Ryfylke. Ice Age glaciers deeply gouged a U-shaped valley into a plateau of Precambrian gneiss, carving this cliff high over the North Sea inlet of Lysefjord.
