Hualapai means "People of the Tall Pines", referring to the American Indian Tribe that lived in these mountains until they were relocated in the 1870s. In the 1930s, the Depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built roads, cabins, restrooms, kitchen buildings, water systems, and more on Hualapai Mountain as part of President Roosevelt's New Deal Program.
