Gem Lake, in Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area, is a hike of 10 miles round trip with 2800 feet cumulative gain along Snow Lake Trail #1013 in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, in the Cascade Range of Washington, USA. Take Interstate 90 Exit #52 westbound or Exit #53 eastbound and follow signs to Alpental Road ski area parking lot and trailhead. To avoid crowds at this popular trail, start early and avoid sunny weekends. The trail down from the saddle viewpoint to Snow Lake is often snow covered through July 4.
