The topi (Damaliscus lunatus) in Serengeti National Park, in the eastern Mara and northeastern Simiyu Regions, in Tanzania, East Africa. The topi is the world's fastest antelope. This highly social animal is found in the savannas, semi-deserts, and floodplains of sub-Saharan Africa. Serengeti National Park was established in 1940. UNESCO honors Serengeti National Park as a World Heritage Site. Through the park runs the Great Migration — the world's most massive land animal migration (in terms of total body weight). This annual circuit of millions of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, etc. passes from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area clockwise through Serengeti National Park to Kenya's Maasai Mara game reserve and back.
