The elaborate "Compagnie des Guides Fresco" is painted on an entire side of the AIGMB Bureau des Guides du Mont-Blanc building in Chamonix, France, the Alps, Europe. Inaugurated in July 2010 to celebrate the Mountain Guides of Chamonix, this trompe l’oeil (fool the eye) fresco was conceived and created by Patrick Commecy and financed by Chamonix's Mayor. It features 20 of the outstanding pioneering Guides and Mountaineers associated with Chamonix and Mont Blanc including Michel-Gabriel Paccard and Jacques Balmat, who in 1786 were the first to climb Mont Blanc (the two leftmost figures on the top left balcony). Hanging from the bottom is Gaston Rebuffat (1921-1985), first person to climb all 6 great north faces of the Alps.
