Wengen village is ideally placed for sightseeing in Lauterbrunnen Valley in the Berner Oberland, Switzerland, the Alps, Europe. The Bernese Highlands are the upper part of Bern Canton. The world's longest continuous rack and pinion railway (Wengernalpbahn) goes from Grindelwald up to Kleine Scheidegg and down to Wengen and Lauterbrunnen. A gondola (gondelbahn) connects Grindelwald with Männlichen, where a cable car goes down to Wengen (Luftseilbahn Wengen-Mannlichen). UNESCO lists “Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch” as a World Heritage Area (2001, 2007).
