Tibetan Buddhists believe that speaking, viewing, spinning or thinking the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment or Buddha of compassion. In the lands influenced by Tibetan Buddhismh, this prayer is often carved into public stones and spinnable Mani wheels (or prayer wheels).
