Sunset at Montgomery Reef, world's largest inshore reef—Kimberley coast of Western Australia. Low tide creates a vast spectacle — hundreds of waterfalls cascading seawater up to 13 feet vertically down the exposed reef. Inshore is defined as sea areas within 9 miles from land and up to 90 meters deep. Situated between Camden Sound and Collier Bay, the reef forms part of Lalang-garram/Camden Sound Marine Park. From Darwin in Northern Territory, we cruised the Kimberley coast of Western Australia aboard the Coral Geographer chartered by Wilderness Travel tour agency. The Kimberley is the northernmost of the nine regions of the state of Western Australia.
