A short walk on Devils Punchbowl Walking Track in Arthur's Pass National Park goes through lush beech forest to a striking waterfall which plunges 131 m. Start at the northern end of Arthur's Pass village (740 m elevation), just off SH73 at the Punchbowl car park, in the Canterbury region on New Zealand's South Island. Walk 3 km round trip with 100 m gain. Five kilometers north of the village is the actual saddle of Arthur's Pass (920 meters or 3020 feet elevation), reached via paved auto road or the Arthur's Pass Walking Track. Arthur's Pass straddles the Southern Alps between the Canterbury and West Coast regions (between the Selwyn and Westland districts).
