Cactus flower, Quito, Ecuador. The Museo de sitio Inti-ñan is a museum at the true equator as calculated by GPS receivers in 1995. (Inti-ñan is "Pathway of the sun" in Kichwa, or Quichua language.) The outdoor museum offers guided tours with fun, silly experiments performed on and off of the equator (such as draining a sink, balancing an egg, and a test of strength, all of which are actually unaffected by the equator), and a glimpse into indigenous life with blow darts, shrunken heads and a native house.
