Fiordland National Park, NEW ZEALAND: Milford Sound is a beautiful, deeply carved fjord. In geography, a "sound" is a large sea or ocean inlet (larger than a bay), but a fiord (or fjord) is a narrow sea inlet that was carved by glacier.
