Above the village of Loen on Innvikfjorden arm of Nordfjord, ascend Skåla, the highest tidewater mountain in Norway. Between Tjugen camping and Loenvatnet, park at the pay lot and ascend to Skålatårnet (Skåla Tower, a DNT lodge) steeply on a well marked trail. Stepping stones greatly improve footing on the upper portion protected within Jostedalsbreen National Park (nasjonalpark). Hike 5 hours up and 3 hours down on a strenuous ascent of over 1800 meters (6000 feet). Loen is in Stryn municipality, Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. Panorama stitched from 3 overlapping photos.
