Himalayan tahr, Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal

The Himalayan tahr is an even-toed ungulate, a near-true goat, commonly seen here between Phortse and Pangboche in Sagarmatha National Park, in the Khumbu district of Nepal. A big male is flanked by two adult females. Sagarmatha National Park was created in 1976 and honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
