Over millions of years, the Green River carved a canyon into the Pennsylvanian-Permian rock layers of Split Mountain (aptly named by John Wesley Powell), on the Utah side of Dinosaur National Monument near Jensen. Dinosaur National Monument is on the southeast flank of the Uinta Mountains straddling Colorado and Utah at the confluence of the Green and Yampa Rivers. Although most of the monument is in Moffat County, Colorado, the popular Dinosaur Quarry is in Utah near the town of Jensen. This panorama was stitched from 11 overlapping photos.
