Mount Triglav (9396 feet) is the highest peak in the Julian Alps, which were named Julius Caesar, who founded some nearby cities. In 1991, Slovenia declared full sovereignty from Yugoslavia. 80% of its 2 million people speak Slovene. In 2004, Slovenia joined NATO and the EU (European Union), and later adopted the Euro € currency. Slovenia is the richest Slavic nation per capita.
