This view is from Gokyo Ri (17,575 feet / 5357 meters above sea level), a peak, in the Khumbu region of the Nepal Himalaya, in Sagarmatha National Park. Gokyo Ri is located on ..the west side of the Ngozumpa Glacier, which is the largest glacier in Nepal, and reputed to be the largest in the whole Himalayas. From Gokyo Ri it is possible to see four 8,000 meter peaks - Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. At the base of Gokyo Ri is the village of Gokyo (15,583 feet / 4750 meters), a small cluster of teahouses for trekkers and climbers. Sagarmatha National Park was created in 1976 and honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
