Konkordia House, on Engelgasse in Appenzell village, is a patrician house dating from the 1600s with a steep gabled roof. Decorated panels cover the southern facade and the paintings under the eaves represent the eight ages of man, created by August Schmid (1930). Appenzell Innerrhoden is Switzerland's most traditional and smallest-population canton (second smallest by area).
