Each color of these chrysanthemums entered into a competition are grown from one stem with 6 to 7 branches headed with a flower — Sankeien Garden and historic Japanese building museum, in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Honshu island, Japan. In Japan, the chrysanthemum (kiku) represents fall and is often used as a floral offering or provides Buddhist symbolism. It’s the emblem of the imperial family and appears on Japanese passports. We saw beautiful kiku exhibits/competitions in Hiroshima & Yokohama.
