Colorful rock blocks in a cliff face at the base of Yocum Ridge, near Ramona Falls, a side loop from the Pacific Crest Trail and Mount Hood's Timberline Trail, near Portland, Oregon, USA — accessible by day hike or multi-night circuit. Three of us circumnavigated Mount Hood by backpacking the scenic Timberline Trail (42 miles with 9900 feet gain and loss). We began our clockwise 5-day hike at Timberline Lodge (a National Historic Landmark) and camped for four nights. The mountain is known as Wy'East by the Multnomah Tribe of the Columbia River valley. This prominent peak is 50 miles east-southeast of Portland, on the border between Clackamas and Hood River counties.
