  • Gas Works Park is the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant which operated 1906-1956 on the north shore of Lake Union in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, USA. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013, Gas Works park contains remnants of the sole remaining coal gasification plant in the US. City councilwoman Myrtle Edwards spearheaded Seattle's drive to acquire it for a park in 1962. Seattle landscape architect Richard Haag designed the park which opened in 1975.

  • Mossy tree branch pattern. Ravenna Park, Seattle, Washington, USA. Cowen and Ravenna Park were formed when melt-off from the Vashon Glacial Ice Sheet formed Lake Russell and cut drainage ravines through new glacial fill. Lake Russell disappeared when the Ice Sheet retreated north of the Straits of Juan de Fuca, but various features remained, including the Green Lake drainage basin, which continued to empty through the Ravenna ravine into Lake Washington. The deeper pockets of the basin became Bitter, Haller and Green Lakes. Many creeks and brooks and springs fed into Green Lake, whose outlet was on the east side of the route of Ravenna Boulevard, in a deepening ravine which became Cowen and Ravenna parks.

  • West Point Lighthouse, beach, driftwood. Discovery Park is a 534 acre (2.2 square km) park in the peninsular Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. It is the city's largest public park and contains 11.81 miles of walking trails. United Indians of All Tribes' Daybreak Star Cultural Center is within the park's boundaries. On the south side of the North Beach strip is a sewage treatment plant, but it is almost entirely concealed from the marsh, beach and trail. The park is built on the historic grounds of Fort Lawton; most of the Fort Lawton Historic District (FLHD) falls within the park (although an enclave within the district remains in military hands), as does the West Point Lighthouse. Both the FLHD and the lighthouse are on the National Register of Historic Places.

  • Moss coats a tree trunk in Carkeek Park, along Puget Sound, in the Broadview neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, USA. The old growth evergreen forest (1000-2000 years old) was clearcut in the early 1900s and succeeded by today's mature forest of predominantly maple-alder, which will eventually be succeeded by evergreens (Western Red Cedar, Western Hemlock, Douglas fir, pine, and spruce). In Carkeek Park, years of hard work by neighbors and volunteers have brought salmon back to Pipers Creek, restored major portions of the forest, built miles of trails, created sustainable gardens, educated visitors, and restored a unique fruit orchard.

The clock was donated to MOHAI and installed in 2008. The mechanical clock required winding once a week until the innards were stolen over Christmas 2009. The clock face reads "Carroll's Diamonds - Watches." MOHAI is the largest private heritage organization in the State of Washington.
