Bare trees reflect in pond on brick walkway, at Gas Works Park, Seattle, Washington, USA. Gas Works Park is the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant which operated 1906-1956 on the north shore of Lake Union in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013, Gas Works park contains remnants of the sole remaining coal gasification plant in the US. City councilwoman Myrtle Edwards spearheaded Seattle's drive to acquire it for a park in 1962. Seattle landscape architect Richard Haag designed the park which opened in 1975.
