Aerial view of green marsh pattern with pond and sheep tracks. Knutshøe ridge offers outstanding scenery in Jotunheimen (the Home of the Giants, the highest section of the Scandinavian Mountains), Norway. To the north admire green Lake Gjende, and to the east see blue lake Nedre Leirungen. To the west, enjoy a fine view of the estuary built by the river of Leirungsåe entering the lake of Øvre Leirungen in the valley of Leirungsdalen. Starting from Vargebakken viewpoint on Norwegian national road RV 51 about 4k south of Gjendesheim, hike Knutshøe ridge (1517 meters elevation) in a 13k loop (5+ hours, 550 meters total gain). Two sections require steep, exposed scrambling, and the return loop along the lake requires rock hopping through brushy marshland.
